Frequently asked questions
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We charge by the hour for tax preparation services so you only pay for the actual work performed as opposed to flat rate services which can be estimated to include more hours than required for the job.It may be more one year, and less the next year; you literally just pay for the actual time it takes and not a penny more.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We first do a free in-depth consultation to learn about your business, and what your needs are, as well as answer your questions about our firm and what we can do for you as an individual and/or business, including non-profits; we have extensivce experience working with private non-profit and traditional non-profit organizations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been employed in the field of accounting since 1988. I have two degrees and an advanced professional license which requires 72 hours of CEUs (continuing education) every three years. Additionally I earned a graduate certification in Public Management.
How did you get started doing this type of work?I started working in my dad's medical practice in high school as a bookkeeper, and working with the accountant in filing tax returns, so that would be in the 1970's. I love the work, and decided to make a career in accounting.
What types of customers have you worked with?We work with all types of business entities and industries. For business entities we are very experienced in working with sole proprietors, LLCs C-Corporations, S-Corporations, and Non-Profit organizations.
For industries, we work in manufacturing, retail, and services. Examples being Doctor's offices, Law offices, Vet clinics, animal shelters, consultation firms, construction companies, design/architecture companies, retail stores, manufacturing, combined manufacturing & retail companies, restaurants, and more. We have worked with companies that are multi-national and have multiple locations, as well as companies with global commerce and locations.
We also do a lot of returns for families and individuals, including correcting prior year returns and filing amended returns. We prepare clients' kids' returns for free, and help with FAFSA for free as well.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?We also do a lot of returns for families and individuals, including correcting prior year returns and filing amended returns. We prepare clients' kids' returns for free, and help with FAFSA for free as well.
Recently I did an amended return for two years for a couple recently retired. The corrections gave them a good refund back, and reversed tax payments as a result. During the hard times of the pandemic, to be able to help a family that could use the extra funds was worthwhile, and totally made not only my day, but my year.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?My advice is to ask about his or her experience and with what types of clients, and education/licensing. Professionals dedicated to their profession will have usually spent time and money investing in their skills set and knowledge, so that is the best type of professional to hire. They will be dedicated and adept at handing your account.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? We offer a free in-depth interview where in asking about their business and work flows, it will help get all the information to understand the process. We ask clients to write down any questions before hand with issues they have and, with taxes, banking, employment rules, what software they are using, or want to possible switch to or upgrade, and so forth.
